SIERRA
NEVADA
|
 |
Granada
is privileged – not only was it prized with the richest monumental
inheritance in Spain, but furthermore to be touched as a place of fantasy
between heavenly countryside and wild uncultivated hills, perhaps the
first a consequence of the second.
To enter the Sierra Nevada is to ascend to the roof of the peninsula, to
live with nature, freedom. An imposing landscape before our eyes, a
combined awsesome spectacle of mountains, valleys, and villages that exist
below us. Towards the sea, the Mediterranean, and on clear days, we are
able to see the African continent from the high hills of Valeta (more than
3400 meters) on the horizon. |
 |
The
hillsides of western Valeta that overlook Granada house the skiing and
mountaineering centre, the most southern in Europe with a skiing altitude
of 1300m,19 mechanical lifts with a capacity of almost 32,000 skiers an
hour, 45 pistes and six routes with suitable characteristics for any kind
of snow sport. |
 |
The remainder of the
mountains protect a rich ecosystem that form a natural and national park.
