To the northeast of
Granada lies the region of Guadix and Marquesado de Zenete. It is a world
of great contrast where we encounter stepped landscapes with a lunar
aspect and fertile plains mingling with snow capped mountains.
There are many communities that constitute this area,
with a large rich culture providing a home for an important strong colony
of influential Arabic grandeur.

The
heavy clay composition of the land has created the formation of
caves, that has been the shelter and home for man for many centuries. Many
of these remain today as rural accommodation, the inhabitants called
troglodytes or cave dwellers.

Further
to the northeast of the province we encounter the region of El
Altiplano Granadino. A high plateau formed from the draining of a huge
lake that filled the land for millions of years. We are able to encounter
here numerous remains and relics of a prehistoric culture.
In this region we have La Sierra de Baza, that is
surface lined with numerous paths that give us the opportunity to see and
travel over this beautiful landscape.
